Feature Summary

The Sunmill X5 Series solves one of the most common frustrations in precision machining: the need to re-fixture or reposition a part to hit features from multiple angles. With full 5-axis capability, the X5 lets you machine complex geometry in a single setup.

Multi-Axis Design, One Setup

The X5-350 and X5-450 are designed for complex milling jobs where a 3-axis machine falls short. The cutting tool can approach the workpiece from multiple angles without flipping or re-clamping the part. Eliminating unnecessary repositioning reduces clamping errors and cuts loading and unloading time.

This is especially valuable for parts with undercuts, compound angles, or curved surfaces where repositioning introduces cumulative error.

Swivel Table Design

The precision rotary swivel table allows complex parts processing in a single setup, greatly reducing cycle time and setup time.

The X5-350 offers an A-axis range of -40° to +120°, while the X5-450 provides an A-axis range of 30° to -120°, with a full 360° C-axis on both models. The larger X5-450 accommodates workpieces up to Ø600 x 300mm on a Ø450mm table with a 250kg load capacity, while the X5-350 handles workpieces up to Ø400 x 300mm on a Ø350mm table with a 100kg load capacity.

High-Speed Direct Drive Spindle

Both models feature a direct drive 10,000 rpm BT40 spindle with a 7.5/11 kW spindle motor, delivering strong cutting performance without the losses associated with belt-driven transmissions. A spindle oil coolant device is standard to maintain thermal stability during extended runs.

ATC and Tool Management

Both X5 models are equipped with a 24-tool arm-type magazine with random tool selection. Maximum tool diameter is Ø75mm, or Ø150mm without an adjacent tool. Maximum tool length is 250mm with a maximum weight of 7kg per tool.
