Feature Summary

The L&L LLA series sits in that purposeful space where serious turning capability meets genuine multi axis machining. These “Smart Machines” are kicked-up versions of the proven LL-Series, featuring capabilities for complex multi-axis processing of workpieces.

Design and Construction

At its core, the LLA is built on the same foundation that makes the LL series a workhorse for heavy industry: a unique design flatbed CNC featuring 5-guide one-piece box-way bed and box-way crosslide. The “high-low wrap-around” boxway design maintains the rigidity of flat-bed lathes, with the combined advantage of no interference from slant-bed designs. This means your carriage moves freely along the full Z-axis length without being blocked by steady rests or tailstock, a design advantage that matters on long, complex workpieces.
The LLA offers a swing over bed of 1,250 mm and a maximum cutting diameter of 950 mm, with a centre height of 675 mm.Distance between centres ranges from 3,200 mm through to 10,200 mm, giving you the flexibility to handle both mid-length components and extended shaft work. Bed width is a substantial 1,290 mm.

Multi Axis Capability

Where the LLA separates itself from a standard heavy duty turning lathe is in its machining versatility. Simultaneous 4 or 5 axis cutting utilizes X-Y-Z-B & C axes. This opens up a wide range of operations that would typically require a separate milling machine or machining centre. Operations such as turn-milling, worm milling/thread hobbing, gear-tooth generation, angled hole drilling, tapping, deep boring, polishing, and grinding are possible.

Tooling Versatility

Machines are available with front disc turrets or column-type Y-Axis spindle carriers for driven tools with up to 25 HP (approximately 18.5 kW) motor and 20 position ATC. This gives you the flexibility to configure the machine for your specific application, whether you need rapid tool changes for production work or heavy milling capability for one-off complex parts.

Spindle Options

Spindle bore options include 153 mm (6 inch) and 230 mm (9 inch), with spindle nose types A2-11 and A2-15 respectively. This accommodates a broad range of through-bore and chucking work.

Control System

The standard controller is a FANUC 0i-TF, with optional upgrades to FANUC 31i-Model B or SIEMENS 828D, giving you the choice of the control platform that best suits your operators and your workflow.

Modularity and Productivity

Programmable steady rests and special-purpose rear-mounted saddles increase the versatility of this modular design.Video surveillance system and in-process gauging also increase productivity and ensure successful results.
