The King Rich V Series represents a well-proven line of Taiwanese-built manual vertical knee mills, available exclusively through QMT Machinery in Australia. Three models cover a practical range of table sizes and feature levels, from the compact KR-V2000 through to the large-format KR-V3000SL.

Design and Construction

Solid Meehanite castings provide the structural foundation for all three models. Hardened slides and a ground table ensure longevity of accuracy and performance. American red Turcite is fitted to the X and Y axes. Dovetail slideways are used on the X axis, and square slideways are used on the Y and Z axes. All axes and the table are hardened and ground.

Performance

Each machine features a variable speed drive head, giving operators stepless control over spindle speed without the need for belt changes. The KR-V3000 and KR-V3000SL include a 1.5HP AC rapid vertical motor that accelerates Z-axis knee positioning, saving time during setup and between cuts. The KR-V3000 and KR-V3000SL both use an ISO40 spindle taper, offering wide tooling compatibility for production and toolroom applications.

Usability

An air-powered drawbar is included as standard across the range, making tool changes quick and consistent. Power longitudinal feed is standard on the KR-V3000 and KR-V3000SL. The KR-V3000SL adds a second power feed on the Y axis as standard, reducing operator effort on longer or repetitive work. A 24V LED working light is fitted to all models, improving visibility at the cutting zone.

Reliability and Maintainability

Automatic central lubrication meters and distributes oil to all guideways and ballscrews without operator input, reducing wear and the risk of dry running. The coolant pump and tray are standard on all models, helping manage heat and swarf during cutting. King Rich manufactures its spindles and headstocks in-house, which means spare parts are controlled, accurately priced, and available even for older machines. The ability to supply individual components rather than full assemblies reduces replacement costs over the machine’s life.
