Cartridge Type Spindle

The cartridge type spindle is assembled and tested in a controlled clean room environment, delivering very high stiffness in both axial and radial directions for consistent heavy-duty performance.

Feature Summary

The Ace Micromatic Group has been designing and manufacturing machine tools and CNC machines for over four decades, with roots going back to 1979. By 1986, the company had entered the CNC arena with indigenous CNC lathes and received early recognition for design excellence. Today the Ace Micromatic Group is recognised as one of the world’s leading machine tool manufacturers, with tens of thousands of machines installed worldwide.

The LT Series reflects decades of this engineering discipline, applied specifically to the demands of heavy-component turning.
Bed and Structure
The bed is fine grain Grade 25 cast iron casting with box type construction. It is heavily ribbed to provide rigidity and is thermally seasoned. The bed is designed for easy chip flow and removal. The chip pan is independently located under the cutting area.
Spindle
The cartridge type spindle is assembled and tested in a controlled clean room environment. The bearing configuration gives very high stiffness to the spindle assembly in both axial and radial directions. The bearings are grease lubricated for life. A high torque spindle motor provides power for heavy stock removal.
Guideways and Axes
X and Z axes feature precision large diameter ballscrews supported at each end by precision class ballscrew support bearings. The guideways are widely spaced to ensure stability, fully protected, and are made of hardened and ground box way strips. The mating way is bonded with Turcite for its superior wear and friction characteristics and hand scraped to perfection. Automatic metered lubrication is provided to all guideways and ballscrews.
Turret
The bi-directional tool turret indexes in either direction for shortest indexing time. It is completely enclosed and robust in mechanism with oil bath lubrication. The three-piece Hirth coupling allows the tool disc to be indexed without lifting, ensuring repeatability, positioning accuracy, and rigidity.
Tailstock
The tailstock consists of a hydraulically operated quill which moves inside a housing. The quill and body are independently moveable. Widely spaced guideways and heavy-duty design of the tailstock ensure rigidity. Foot pedal or program activates the quill. Programmable tailstock is a standard feature.
Safety and Accuracy
Both axes are provided with overload tripping clutch to minimise damage in the event of an accident. Ball bar testing is used to check circular interpolation accuracy of each machine. Geometrical errors, servo-related errors, and cyclic errors are diagnosed instantaneously.
Turnmill Variant
Both LT-30 and LT-40 machines are also available in the turnmill version, adding live tooling and C-axis capability for complex parts requiring both turning and milling operations in a single setup.
