The Ace Micromatic Gemini Series are twin spindle vertical machining centres purpose-built for high-volume automotive and component production. Feature Summary

The Gemini Series solves one of the most common challenges in high-volume component manufacturing: how to double output without doubling floor space, labour, or machine investment. By housing two precisely assembled spindles within a single rigid structure, the Gemini machines machine two identical parts per cycle — cutting cost per component and cycle time significantly.

The Case for Twin Spindle
Rising infrastructure and labour costs have pushed machine tool users to extract maximum value from every square metre of floor space. The Gemini machines were developed in direct response to this challenge. Their productivity is nearly double that of a single spindle machine with equivalent specifications, they occupy less floor space than two equivalent standalone machines side by side, and they can be operated by a single operator or a single robot. The Gemini Series has gained strong traction in the auto-component manufacturing industry due to its suitability for high-volume production and structural rigidity.
High-Rigidity Twin Spindle Technology
AMS Gemini machines are equipped with high-rigidity, high-speed spindles using quadruplex back-to-back angular contact bearings, optimally preloaded and grease lubricated for life. All spindles are dynamically balanced to perform better under sustained high-speed operation. Spindle interfaces include BT-30, BT-40, and BT-50 as standard, with HSK A63 and HSK A100 tapered spindle options available.
BBT-30 Dual Contact Interface
The Gemini Mini series is available with the BBT-30 spindle system. BBT provides dual contact between the spindle face and the flange face of the toolholder — maximising rigidity and clamping pressure. This reduces run-out, extends tool life, and delivers meaningful improvements in accuracy and cutting capability compared to standard BT toolholders.
Automatic Tool Changer
All Gemini models are fitted with 20-tool (per spindle) side-mounted twin arm ATCs as standard — providing 40 tools in total for both spindles. Fast chip-to-chip times of 3.9 seconds on Mini models through to 6 seconds on the Gemini Max keep cycle times tight across demanding production schedules.
Automatic Pallet Changer Option
A rotary pallet changer is available on select Gemini models. This allows machining to continue on one pallet while an operator loads and clamps workpieces on the other, dramatically reducing non-productive time and further improving machine utilisation.
Coolant System
Through-spindle coolant increases tool life, allows higher cutting speeds, and clears chips during deep hole drilling. Two coolant systems are available: a Grundfos Pump system at 21 bar and a Wanner Pump system at 50 bar. All models include a large-capacity chip tray for reliable, low-maintenance chip management.
Quality Inspection
All Gemini machines are laser calibrated and ball bar tested to the highest accuracy standards. Every machine is subject to heavy cut and NAS testing before shipment, combined with parameter adjustment to guarantee the best possible cutting quality in service.
Industry Applications
The Gemini Series is especially suited to the automotive industry for high-volume component production, including engine covers, valve bodies, brackets, housings, and transmission components. It is also applicable to general engineering and energy generation applications that require consistent, repeatable, high-throughput machining.
